Bilsteins vs Koni Street for the IS300. Front shocks is blown yo. Gonna be with stock springs and all that nonsense, just need some quality replacement shocks.
$126 for Bilstein B6
$100 for Koni STR.T
$169 for Koni Sport
$76 for KYB Excel.G but I’ve been advised against it by friends who have had them fail on a yearly basis.

I’ve had good luck with both, although I generally lean towards Koni because I’m cheap.

On German cars at least, I would say the Bilsteins are a little more comfortable. Less spring rate but good rebound. Koni are a little harder. I have no idea if this holds true for the Lexus, though. In any case, on a car like that, I would avoid anything overly stiff and crashy.

I have Koni str.t struts which I think are a great. They are on lowering springs though. And a Volvo, so that probably doesn't help... They are stiffer than stock but not in the least bit harsh. In the rear I have KYB AGX adjustable shocks which I also really like and which may be an option? Just to further muddy the waters...

Konis are good and Bilsteins are great but expensive so see if KYB offers anything because they’re a great budget option if you’re just wanting factory replacement shocks.

def a problem to fix quickly. bad shocks have to be one of the main reasons for bad tyre wear. and bad tyres are dangerousness

Bilsteins are the way to go for this application, of those two. They’ll handle fine, t hey’ll probably last longer than the rest of the car, and the price difference will help offset installation and the alignment job . Bang for the buck, I’d also see what KYB or Tokico offers.

My friends are advising me against the KYB Excel-Gs due to crap longevity. The Bilsteins are actually similarly priced to the Konis.
$126 for Bilstein B6
$100 for Koni STR.T
$169 for Koni Sport

Were said friends using stock springs, stiffer springs, or lowering springs? I know Koni STR.T shocks plus stiffer springs (at least stiffer than a stock Miata; Racing Beat springs are the worst combination with those shocks ) leads to premature failures.
I’d go for the Bilstein. I don’t think you need the adjust-ability of a Koni Sport.

Stock springs. I’m a fan of bilsteins which is why I’m leaning that way.
